While creating the book, I wanted to keep it simple and avoid cluttering it. The hierarchy I chose to create was- 1. The headings
2. The illustrations that explained the concept.
3.The content.
I chose an illustrative font and large font size for the headings, left-aligning it and leaving a lot of space around it to make the viewer's attention go straight there. On the other hand, I used a simple arial-narrow font, a smaller point size for the right-aligned content I had compressed into a small, particular font size. I tried to use Density to create a hierarchy. The illustrations covered the entire right page of the DPS, with a small description box on the bottom right corner. The images being in plain black and white, and the use of lines over a colour fill, caused the eye to move from the heading to the illustration to the content, thus creating a hierarchy.
I introduced the content in different sections; Introduction, factors to be kept in mind, Conceptualization, Articulation, Research and Execution. Each section had a corresponding illustration which showed one important concept/ point within that heading. The written content, was a combination of sentences from Siegel's article and my own summary of it.
The entire text and images assignment followed a book format, with a cover, to the content, to the credits, and a little bit of information about the author, Dmitri Siegel.

The C.A.R.E. Procedure
The importance of design in other spheres of life is growing rapidly. As design takes the form of an inter-disciplinary way of life,it's very core, design education needs to organized and well-structured.
Dmitri Siegel offers us one such strategy, taking advantage of design's flexible and multi-skill skeleton, giving us the 4-step CARE- Conceptualising, Articulation, Research, and Execution.
Conceptualization is the basic envisioning of a project, the more time spent on this part of the project, the better the end result. In order to develop conceptualization skills, he suggests that students be assigned small projects, in which more than the end result, the concepts be emphasized upon. Questioning, critiquing, assessing and communicating the concept, or articulating it, teaches them how to approach their work.
Understanding the history, and researching, at every stage makes students situate their projects in a relevant context, even if it involves simply reading a biography rather than flipping through a hundred slides. A strong and thorough concept ensures that time and resources are well assessed, and the execution of the project can be done with greater efficiency and detail. Students should be made to undertake projects with longer timelines, where they are held to the highest standards of execution and finish. It helps them develop their ability to revise, refine, edit and improvise their projects, without getting stuck.
Applying this concept is not enough, keeping it engaging and interesting is also important. And to achieve this, developing a strategy is important. One such strategy, is CARE.
